CPQ ERP Integration

CPQ and ERP are the two most critical systems in a manufacturer's sales and operations workflow — but in many organisations, they operate in isolation. Product data lives in ERP but must be manually maintained in the CPQ system. Prices in the CPQ may not reflect current ERP pricing. Orders accepted in CPQ must be re-entered manually into ERP. This disconnection creates inefficiency, inconsistency, and risk at every point where data moves between systems.

Manual re-entry of order data from CPQ into ERP is one of the most common sources of error in manufacturing operations. Configuration details are misinterpreted. Quantities are entered incorrectly. Delivery addresses are manually copied with transcription errors. Each error creates downstream problems that must be resolved at a cost — in time, in margin, and sometimes in customer relationships.

When product data is maintained separately in CPQ and ERP, synchronisation becomes a recurring administrative task. New products added to ERP must be manually reflected in the CPQ. Discontinued products must be removed. Pricing changes must be propagated. Each of these tasks is straightforward in isolation but collectively represents a significant ongoing overhead — and a source of risk when updates are delayed.

For manufacturers with complex ERP configurations — multiple warehouses, production plants, or legal entities — the integration challenge is compounded. The CPQ system must understand ERP's organisational structure to route orders correctly and apply the right pricing and availability logic.
